Hi, I’m Lucy Smith
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis aged 29. At the time, I was a competitive natural bodybuilder, getting to the national finals for 6 years running. At 36 I was also diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Hypermobility disorder) that with me runs right through my connective tissues.
Having been a personal trainer since 23, I felt compelled to stay within my chosen field of work for as long as I could. After qualifying as an advanced Pilates instructor, my time since (I’m 47 now) has been branching out into various aspects of this discipline and I’m now a movement specialist for all.
My Multiple Sclerosis affected my vestibular gland in my brain very badly and I soon became fluent in vestibular therapy (advanced, neurological, balance training) Also undertaking and qualifying in pre and post natal Pilates, Menopause and Corrective Exercise (including myofascial release, especially cranial)
Many of my clients include people with, like myself neuro diversity. For example, ADHD, ASD/C and branches of Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental Co-ordination Disorder. Many clients have chronic conditions (Lupus, Cerebral Palsy, Crohn’s to name a few) or injuries that they need corrective exercise help in managing. I’ve also worked with visually and hearing impaired clients.
As an ex competitive bodybuilder, diet manipulation was a must. Therefore I hold a qualification in Nutrition, assisting people with food intolerances and allergies. Also as an ex athlete, I fully understand Body Dysmorphia and/or eating disorders.
Working with children over the years, either for schools, small groups or on a one to one basis to achieve their maximum potential is a particular passion of mine.
Another speciality of mine is working remotely/online with clients globally. I have exceptional skills assessing and teaching sessions this way, also providing bespoke online classes for up to 3 persons.
I am based in West London where most of my work takes place. Depending on accessibility and location, I am prepared to travel.
