Welcome to EDS Pilates

Hi, I’m Lucy Smith.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at 29. At the time, being a competitive natural bodybuilder and getting to the national finals for 6 years running. At 36 I was later also diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Hypermobility disorder) that with me ran right through my connective tissues.
Having been a personal trainer since 23, I felt compelled to stay within my chosen field of work. Qualifying as an Advanced Pilates Instructor, my time since (I’m 46 now) has been branching out into various aspects of this discipline. Now re-defining myself as a movement specialist.
My Multiple Sclerosis affected my Vestibular gland in my brain very badly and I soon became fluent in Vestibular therapy (advanced, neurological, balance training) Also undertaking and qualifying in pre & post natal Pilates, Menopause and corrective exercise (including myofascial release, especially cranial)
Although still operating as a Personal trainer to all, a lot of my clients are either neuro diverse (ADHD, ASD and branches of Dyspraxia, also known as Developmental co-ordination disorder) or have chronic conditions and injuries that they need corrective help in managing.
Also, holding a qualification in Nutrition, advice can be given to people with food adaptations and allergies. As an ex competitive bodybuilder, I fully understand body dysmorphia.
Working with children over the years, either for schools, small groups, or on a one to one basis to help them try and achieve their maximum potential is one of my favourite things.
I also run online Pilates classes for small groups, utilising all small Pilates equipment.
